All Saugus cheerleaders are placed into a “cheer family.” These families are a stable group of athletes from all grade levels that persists throughout the career of a Saugus High School cheerleader. When new cheerleaders join the program, they are welcomed into their cheer family in a special way.

A scavenger hunt leads each new cheerleader on a quest for clues resulting in clothing and accessories that identifies them as a member of their particular family.

Following the scavenger hunt, family members reveal themselves one family at a time—in matching clothing and accessories—and welcome their new members to the family.
